Hypnotherapy is a type of complementary therapy that uses relaxation and guided instructions to achieve a heightened state of awareness and receptivity within our mind, usually known as the Theta brainwave state. In this naturally occurring state, a person may focus their attention—with the help of a trained therapist—on specific thoughts or tasks (and in particular during hypnotherapy-counselling, the recalling of deeply buried memories). However, even when the brainwaves are in the Alpha state rather than the Theta state, and the individual may be cognizant of external noises, etc., hypnotherapy will still work. Whilst in the state of deep relaxation, all memories held in the subconscious can be accessed for healing and re-scripting, resolving traumas and inner wounds from their root causes.

Counselling works with the current issues by having the person consciously speak them out to the therapist. Therefore in addition to emotions, the logic imposed by our conscious minds are also strongly in play during counselling sessions. The person can also only speak about things that he/she consciously remembers, which is often not the true root cause of the problem. This is because our conscious mind tries to protect us by repressing memories that are too painful, therefore by working only with our conscious minds, we cannot find the root cause. The root cause is often so deeply embedded in early childhood, sometimes even whilst we are in our mother's womb, from our past lifes, or ancestors/lineage. We carry within us energetic imprints from times that our conscious minds cannot fathom because it defies the way that logic processes thoughts, situations and emotions. Hypnotherapy allows us to tap into our own powerful subconsciousness to bring up the memories of the situation(s) that first implanted the emotional wounds in us. Then thereafter, conscious counselling helps our logical minds to make sense of what we have experienced during hypnotherapy, and to develop practical solutions that can be implemented in daily life to alleviate the issues that we are facing. In addition, with the self awareness that we now have, it becomes easier to not react so adversely to the triggering situations, which allows us to break out of self-sabotaging patterns. This is the reason for my combination of hypnotherapy with counselling, to increase the efficacy of resolving current issues facing the client.

Hypnotherapy works like an accelerated form of self-counselling, and enhances counselling by the therapist-counsellor thereafter. This is because Hypnotherapy allows the person to not only "see" for themselves in their mind's eye the root cause of the issue, but also allows the person to feel the emotions associated with the wound/issue. This allows for a thorough understanding of the true underlying issues or unhealed wounds which then grants self-awareness for completely remediation over the days to come.

I hold a Bachelors degree in Law (with honors) from the National University of Singapore. After several years of practicing law, I realized that the counselling of clients, even in legal matters, play a crucial part. Therefore instead of going for a Masters in law or MBA (which was very popular at my time), I decided to study Masters in Counselling from Monash University, and graduated with distinction. Although the profession of law is highly logic based, but I've always been intuitive since young. Through the ups and downs of life, I've also experienced many miracles, and almost paranormal spiritual encounters. To make sense of what I experienced and to find out what life is about, I searched through religious teachings, new age beliefs and took up meditation. Since then, the one conclusion I came to is that energy is key. Afterall, Energy is what we are all made of. Even science has shown that when we go down down down to our very core materials, we are made up of molecules held together by energy bonds, and the molecules themselves rely on the energy bonds to hold them together. Therefore to me, energy healing is crucial, hence I took up and became certified as a Reiki Master as well. However, I got lost in the "matrix" for many years as well, and forgot my search for the meaning of life, as I had failed to find it. Then the Universe surreptitiously put everything back on track for me again, leading me to experiencing hypnotherapy. Through the hypnotherapy sessions that I underwent myself, I also realized that I was born an empath, but which I had self-suppressed in order to "make it" and "fit in" with societal expectations. And again the Universe arranged events in such a serendipitous way, that I managed to complete 250 training hours and pass my exam to become a hypnotherapist. I am accredited as a Certified Hypnotherapist with the National Hypnotist Guild (the largest and oldest hypnosis organization in the world, founded since 1951 by Dr. Rexford). I cannot emphasize on how important self-awareness is, because it is through self-awareness that we heal ourselves and move into the flow of life. Once we can move into that flow state, then living becomes easier and much more joyful than it is when our minds are clouded by anxiety, stress, pain, frustrations, anger, external pressures and expectations.

Yes, hypnotherapy is generally considered safe when conducted by a trained and certified hypnotherapist. It is a non-invasive therapy that does not involve medication. However, it is important to ensure that the hypnotherapist is qualified and experienced. Koh C-u Pinn (founder of Arielle Wholistic Hypnotherapy) underwent 250 hours of course work/training before being certified as a hypnotherapist. In addition, with her formal education on working with emotions and cognitive behavior gained through her Masters in Counselling, as well as her experience of being a lawyer for the past 25 years, clients can rest assured that all interactions are handled with due care, professionalism and ethics.

Wholistic Hypnotherapy-Counselling is focused on finding the root cause of an issue that a client is experiencing strongly in his/her current life by delving into the wounds and traumas held since childhood , past lives and/or lineage to bring them to the surface for healing and re-scripting. Healing these wounds or traumas by releasing the stored negative emotions associated with them, will help to resolve the current life's issue because the individual can then experience life without the intense pain that has been unconsciously stored, and this helps the individual to go about her/his daily activities with greater awareness to gradually eradicate the issue from his/her life completely. Past Life Regression may be suitable for those who are just starting out on their healing journey and may not be comfortable with delving deeply into their wounds and traumas as yet, but have noticed a recurring unwanted pattern in their life experiences, and would like to know how such pattern may have stemmed from a past life (or lives). Meditation is a conscious act of being in a hypnotic state.

No, you are fully aware and in control of yourself during hypnosis. Otherwise you would not be able to answer the questions we ask, or follow our instructions and suggestions during hypnotherapy. As such, it may not feel like you are hypnotized, but you are, because your memories will start to surface. You will be fully aware of what you are seeing, sensing, hearing and answering. Nonetheless, your brain waves will still be in either the Alpha or Theta frequencies (usually alternating between the two, and therefore yes, you are in hypnosis). For those who meditate , the experience is similar to meditation in that you are relaxed, yet focused and aware.

QHHT is the method of hypnotherapy founded by the most famous hypnotherapist Dolores Canon. The aim of QHHT is to bring the client to connect with his/her higher self during a deep somnambulistic trance to provide spiritual guidance, i.e. a high level guidance to the human self of the client. Hence, past life regression often takes place. HHH which I practice is more focused on resolving current issue(s) that client is facing at present. Therefore generally the client will regress into younger years or childhood, or where the wound was first suffered in past life or ancestry, then the regression may move into ancestor's lifetime or the client's past life. The aim of HHH, for which I underwent 250 training hours, is to shed light immediately on a present day issue, and to allow the client to live his/her daily life with greater awareness and therefore less confusion, stress and anxiety. This understanding of how and whence the issue arose also helps to reduce self-sabotaging behaviour and minimize recurring undesired patterns.
